After traveling more than 21 hours by plane, I touched down in Bangkok on Day Two of my tour. I arrived in the early afternoon and spent two and a half hours walking the areas near our hotel on Si Lom Road. I was very impressed with the city's architecture in the business center, it was an exciting mix of high rise towers and skyscrapers built alongside older neighborhoods and marketplaces. On the following day we drove to the Chinese Market and the Indian Flower Market. I had arrived in Thailand during the annual Festival of Lights (Loy Krathong) and the markets were packed with locals buying flower-decorated mini floats that are used in the festival. In the late afternoon we took a longboat ride along the Chao Phraya River, many of the temples along the banks were lit up for the festival. We had dinner at a restaurant located on the pier where we docked and later we took tuk-tuks (the local transportation) on a night drive down the Royal Avenue where photos of Thailand's king adorn the roadway. The last photos on this page were from my final night in Bangkok. I went to eat dinner at a swanky French restaurant with three other members of the group and later walked the streets along Si Lom Road and some of the food and market areas.
