Several years ago, while I was showing a friend some pictures I had taken of the Grand Canyon, it suddenly dawned on me that I couldn't recollect many of the finer details of my previous trips beyond basic descriptions. I was afraid the older I got the more my memory would fade. My daughter Rachel was the first to suggest I  write everything down in a diary, and ever since I've been documenting my travels in what has become a series of rather lengthy journals. I opened this website so that my fellow travelers (and anyone else who is interested) can access my writings and photographs.  I normally travel solo, but on occasion I have journeyed with people I've met on these guided tours.

My writings include a detailed description of the day-to-day activities of my trips, including historical references and my own personal commentary. I'll be the first to admit I can be a real jackass at times. Perhaps some of my observations might seem crude, unjustified, alarmist or even down-right silly. But I believe  the real purpose of 'world travel' is to take relatively ignorant people such as myself, who nonetheless harbor a desire to learn and explore, and expose them to other cultures and the wonders of Mother Earth. I believe that the more humans travel and learn about each other the more we'll all get along in the future.

Let me make one final disclaimer: I am neither a professional writer nor a professional photographer, something you will probably discover on your own soon enough. I am, as my website states, a mailman who likes to travel. I edit my own journals and try to take the best pictures I can with my simple digital camera (and cell phone). Sometimes I fail. I hope you will not be too critical of my shortcomings in these areas. Anyway, for whatever they're worth, these are the stories of my adventures, one guided tour at a time...
