The Moscow subway is a must for anyone visiting the city. Many of the older stations go back to Stalinist times and are adorned with communist-themed artwork (mosaics, paintings, statues and stained-glass pieces) depicting the ordinary, every day life of the Soviet citizen. It's like stepping through a time portal! The entire subway system is spotless and very well-maintained.
